King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ahmed, chaired, on Thursday, a religious ceremony in commemoration of Eid Al-Mawlid Annabawi today at the Hassan Mosque in Rabat.
During the religious ceremony, Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq gave an address before the King on the activities of the Supreme Council of Ulema and local Ulema Councils, before handing over to the monarch the report relating to said activities.
In his address, the minister said that the celebration of Eid Al Mawlid coincides with the commemoration of the 15th-century anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Mohammed, noting that the King has instructed the Supreme Council of Ulema to celebrate this year by emphasizing both the life (Sira Annabawiya) and the message of the Prophet.
In this regard, he affirmed that the religious guidance provided in Morocco, at the initiative of the Ulema, is a project aiming to enshrine lofty universal values. He added that the Ulema believe that fulfilling the conditions of “Tabligh” (propagation), under the enlightened leadership of the Commander of the Faithful, is an ideal opportunity to put forward a global model of understanding inspired by the way of the Prophet.
In this context, Toufiq recalled an unprecedented high-level meeting, held earlier this year by the Supreme Council of Ulema with a host of major development actors, to address, through their research, the question of the extent to which development needs the guidance provided by the Quran.
This meeting, he continued, was an opportunity to engage in dialogue on a central issue to all : leading a happy life according to Divine Law.

This award rewards outstanding scientific figures and encourages them to carry out research in Islamic studies, in accordance with the teachings of the noble Shariah, which advocates the search for knowledge and urges them to make good use of it.
