After clearing a few hurdles, Franklin County’s proposed new animal-control building has reached the drawing stage.
Much to the dismay of organizers, Decherd’s lawnmower race event, set for Saturday at the Babe Ruth Ball Park, has been canceled due to limited entries.
The Franklin County High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in a meet Tuesday at Woodland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga with the FCHS boys finishing first in the team standings.

Christian Tabernacle homecoming
Christian Tabernacle, 5545 Veterans Memorial Drive E., Decherd, will be holding its annual homecoming revival service from Friday through Sunday. Services on Friday will be held at 7 p.m. with Saturday services at 2 p.m. with a meal to follow and Sunday services at 1 p.m. There are several special guest speakers throughout the revival, including evangelist Jeremy Ivey on Friday and evangelist Larry Flanary on Saturday and Sunday. Special singers on Saturday and Sunday will be Michael Knight and The Redeemed.

Walnut Grove revival
The Walnut Grove Community Church, 980 Walnut Grove Road, Belvidere, invites everyone to its revival services beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday and continuing through Tuesday. Dr. Mike Clark will be the evangelist. Special music will be presented at each service. Everyone is welcome to join in for a time of fellowship and spiritual renewal. Wilder Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, 1558 Wilder Chapel Road, Decherd, will be holding a singing on Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. Glory Echoes will be singing. Brother Aaron Hastings invites the public to attend.

Blessing of the Animals
Weather permitting, St. Agnes’ Episcopal Church, 105 E. England St., Cowan, will hold a Day of St. Francis Blessing of the Animals service on Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. on the church lawn. A short prayer service will be held, and each pet owner will receive a St. Francis/St. Anthony pendant. The church asks that all pets be on a leash or in a carrier and be under the safe control of their owners at all times.

Wilder Chapel yard sale
Wilder Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, 1558 Wilder Chapel Road, Decherd, will be holding a yard sale from Oct. 16-18. The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. All proceeds go toward the church’s building fund.
