The Toronto Blue Jays staved off elimination and forced a winner-take-all Game 7 in the 2025 ALCS with a 6-2 win over the Seattle Mariners in Game 6 on Sunday night.
Toronto capitalized on back-to-back Seattle errors to start the scoring in the second, then got home runs from Addison Barger and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to extend the lead. After the Mariners got on the board with two runs in the sixth, Guerrero scored on a Cal Raleigh throwing error for a key insurance run.
Game 7 is set for 8:08 p.m. ET Monday in Toronto.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. spoke to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae after playing a big role in the Blue Jays forcing a Game 7 against the Mariners.

Trey Yesavage spoke to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae after the game about pitching in Game 6 and the team's defense behind him with the plethora of double plays.

Neither team has announced a Game 7 starting pitcher. The last time the Mariners were facing elimination, they stuck all their Cy Young-caliber starters in the bullpen, and almost everyone pitched in a 15-inning marathon against the Tigers in the ALDS. These teams will be going all out to win Monday night. You won’t want to miss it.
TORONTO – It all comes down to one game. The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays will battle for a World Series date with the Los Angeles Dodgers, after the Jays pushed the series the distance with a 6-2 win in Sunday’s Game 6. Trey Yesavage pitched into the sixth inning and the Jays tacked on five early runs against Logan Gilbert to extend the series.
Monday night’s series finale will be the second Game 7 in Blue Jays’ history and their first in 40 years, since a loss to the Kansas City Royals at home to end the 1985 ALCS. The Mariners, meanwhile, will play the first Game 7 in franchise history, leaving the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres as the only teams to never play a winner-take-all Game 7.
Half of Yesavage’s big league starts have come in October. All he knows at baseball’s highest level is stretch run starts and the postseason stage. Yet the rookie who claims he’s built for these moments continues to deliver.

A truly frustrating Game 6 for Mariners fans. There was Julio Rodríguez booting a ball that turned into a double, Eugenio Suárez dropping a grounder altogether and Cal Raleigh firing a baseball into left field. Then there were the inning-ending double plays (plural) that squashed Seattle’s chances of coming back against Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage. The Mariners weren’t out of this one, even after falling down 4-0, but they put the ball on the ground (offensively and defensively) at the wrong times.
Jeff Hoffman has thrown a season high in pitches, which could play a factor tomorrow. Toronto, however, will have basically everyone available.

When the Blue Jays left Toronto after losing the first two games at home, it was hard to imagine they’d even get another game at the home park. Now, they’re three outs away from getting a decider tomorrow. Toronto hasn’t been to the World Series since winning it in 1993. The Mariners have a tortured fanbase, arguably one of the most tortured. But they’re not completely alone.
