The Falls Park Farmers Market is extending its season into the cold weather with an indoor market. Vendors will sell their goods twice a month on Saturdays for six months at Mosaic Arts & Events, 500 N. Main Ave. About half of the summer vendors are expected to participate. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first market will be Nov. 15.
Three Sioux Falls nonprofits officially have consolidated and announced a new name. The Compass Center, Family Services Inc. and Move to Heal now collectively are known as Solace. “The merger creates the region’s first fully integrated healing agency, combining crisis intervention, clinical therapy and trauma-informed somatic approaches under one coordinated system,” the organization said in a statement. Solace operates from its new location at 2210 S. Brown Place.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is bringing its new store concept, Dick’s House of Sport, to Sioux Falls. It will be in the former Sears space at The Empire Mall and is expected to replace the existing Dick’s Sporting Goods location in the mall. Many of the larger-format Dick’s House of Sport stores feature an outdoor turf field, rock-climbing wall, batting cage and golf simulators and offer services such as golf club fitting and bicycle repairs. An opening date has not been announced.
Visual Swing Baseball & Softball Academy will have a grand opening Nov. 8 at 3901 W. 53rd St. The new locally owned business will include high-end technology to help players improve, along with standard batting cages and tunnels.

Carhartt and an expanded lululemon have opened at The Empire Mall. Carhartt filled the attached space that’s adjacent to the food court and was a longtime location for Verizon. Lululemon has moved into a space near center court that’s more than twice the size of its original location in the mall. National retailer Perfume Palace also has opened at The Empire Mall, filling the former Journeys Kidz space.
Park Ridge Galleria at 26th and Western has gained one business and is losing one. Locally owned Liquor Falls has opened in the shopping center and sells beer, wine and spirits. Hair salon I Capelli is moving to a suite-style building after 20 years at Park Ridge. Eight stylists will relocate to the new D’Lux Suites at 5201 S. Solberg Ave. I Capelli will close at Park Ridge on Nov. 23 and reopen in the new suites on Nov. 25.
The first phase of construction is underway at the Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium with a groundbreaking Oct. 21 for the future butterfly garden. It will be located inside the main building of the Great Plains Zoo and relocate the butterfly house operation from Sertoma Park. The projected opening will be in late 2026 or early 2027.
A west-side sports bar has closed after less than a year, though the off-track betting operation next door remains open. Owners of Railbirds Sports Bar at 2310 S. Marion Road cited troubles with staffing. The off-track betting area, Railbirds OTB, accepts wagers on horse, harness and dog races.
