Katy Perry is getting real and honest in her new song titled “Bandaids.”
On Nov, 6, the singer released the track and its accompanying music video, which features her getting into all types of accidents. The lyrics touch on heartbreak, being let down, trying to make a relationship work and falling apart.
“It’s not what you did/ It’s what you didn’t/ You were there but you weren’t/ Got so used to you letting me down,” Perry sings at the beginning of the song.
The music video also begins with her washing dishes and her ring falling down the drain.
“Bandaids” is Perry’s first song since her split from Orlando Bloom. The pair, who got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019, announced their separation in a joint statement in July 2025.
While Perry doesn’t explicitly mention Bloom, she seemingly references their daughter, Daisy Dove, in one shot. The former couple welcomed their little girl in August 2020.
As she sings, “If I had to do it all over again/ I would still do it all over again/ The love that we made was worth it in the end/ Oh yeah, oh yeah,” it cuts to a single daisy in between rocks.
In their joint statement obtained by TODAY.com, Perry and Bloom’s reps stressed the importance of co-parenting, writing in part, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Perry, like many artists, is known for putting life experiences into her songs. Back in September, the pop star posted on Instagram a series of photos, including one that features the same makeup as her “Bandaids” cover art, and a message touching on her music.
“Records are snapshots of an artist trying to tell their story of where they are now or have been, and hope someone will hear themselves in some of the messages,” she wrote, in part.

Hand to God I promised I tried
There’s no stone left unturned
It’s not what you did
It’s what you didn’t
You were there but you weren’t
Got so used to you letting me down
No use trying to send flowers now
Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t
Bandaids over a broken heart
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Bandaids over a broken heart
On the bright side
We had good times
Never faked our pictures
We were perfect
Til we weren’t
Now we’ve got too many splinters
Got so used to you letting me down
No use trying to send flowers now
Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t
Bandaids over a broken heart
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Bandaids over a broken heart
It’s not that complicated
To ask me how my day is
I’m flatlining tryna to save this
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Bandaids over a broken heart
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah, oh yeah
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Bandaids over a broken heart
