St. Louis area business to add nearly 40 stores in big expansion – KSDK

ST. LOUIS — Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers, the High Ridge-based retail chain, will soon reach 130 locations in eight states, thanks to recent openings, new construction and acquisitions that are adding 39 stores.
The company said this week that the expansion further strengthens Dobbs’ presence in Missouri and Ohio, while taking the business into Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Dobbs said the purchase of 34 stores that aren’t currently open will expand the company’s footprint into Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Minneapolis; and Pittsburgh.
The store acquisitions closed in late October and early November, and the stores will open under Dobbs ownership in a phased rollout from November through March, a spokesperson told the Business Journal. The company did not respond to a request for information on who sold the stores to Dobbs.
Dobbs also will be adding three locations in the St. Louis market, in Warrenton and Arnold in Missouri and Highland in Illinois.
