Trezise: LEAP creating business opportunities, helping communities prosper – Lansing State Journal

Dear Lansing region,
As your regional economic development organization, the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) works to create business opportunity and community prosperity across Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties, uniting businesses big and small with people, government and education to properly position us to win investment projects in a highly competitive world and nation.
Those projects are the only way to create good diverse jobs, grow our younger population which is our future workforce, create more customers for our main street businesses and generate new revenue so our local municipalities can provide the quality services and improvements like schools, parks, river trails, police, fire, roads, social programs, and charities.
In 2026, LEAP will celebrate 20 years of driving balanced growth and economic opportunity. In that time, LEAP’s projects have directly created 10,941 good jobs, attracted $7.3 billion in new investment and launched 398 companies. This is all done through the many partnership efforts at state and local levels with LEAP. We could not be more grateful for the many businesses and developers who choose to keep their projects here.
These successes don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of years of intentional, collaborative work with continuity over time provided by the leadership from our public and private partners, including our dedicated LEAP Board of Directors.
In 2025, we have seen remarkable progress including:
We’re proud to build on our recent Site Selection magazine recognition as one of the nation’s Top 20 economic development agencies. And this year, LEAP won two Silver awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for our small business support work.
It’s our honor to fight alongside you all for our hometown region’s future!
Bob Trezise is president and CEO of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership.
