Whitney Jennings of Seneca, Neb., has been named Mid-Plains Community College's Business Student of the Month for November. Jennings, who initially considered attending college out of state, found her perfect fit at MPCC after a campus tour. "I realized how much opportunity was right here at home. The small class sizes, supportive instructors and rodeo program made Mid-Plains the perfect fit for both my academic and rodeo goals," she said.
Studying Agri-Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership, Jennings is also a member of the MPCC Rodeo Team. Her nomination for the honor came from MPCC Business Instructor Jean Condon, who praised Jennings' dedication. "Whitney shows an amazing commitment to her education, team members and her college experience. Along with her success in the classroom she is hard-working, a great communicator, has a strong work ethic and tremendous leadership skills as she interacts with other students," Condon said.
Jennings, who is on track to graduate in spring 2026, is focused on making a difference in the western industry. "I was inspired to pursue a business degree because I wanted to understand how to turn my passion for agriculture and horses into a successful career," she said. "I’ve always known I wanted to own my own business someday, and studying business gives me the tools to manage finances, communicate effectively and make confident decisions."
Reflecting on her time at MPCC, Jennings expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support she has received. "I am very thankful for the people and opportunities I’ve had here at MPCC. Between the business program and the rodeo team, I’ve grown both personally and professionally and learned lessons I’ll carry for life," she said. "I’m proud to represent the college and thankful for the instructors who go out of their way to help students succeed."
