Cleveland Institute of Music Welcomes Violinist VC Artist Chad Hoopes to Faculty – The Violin Channel

Hoopes will serve as associate professor of violin starting in the Fall of 2026
Violinist Chad Hoopes, an alum of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Artist Program, will join the faculty of his alma mater as an associate professor of violin. Beginning in Fall 2026, he will take on a limited number of students as he maintains his studio at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
“I am truly thrilled to join the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music, a place that nourished and shaped me during my formative years as a young artist,” said Hoopes. “Returning to CIM feels like coming home, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to carry important traditions forward to the next generation of musicians. It’s an honor to be part of the next chapter in the Institute’s remarkable history of violin teaching.”

A graduate of the Kronberg Academy, where he studied with Ana Chumachenco, Chad is a 2017 recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant. As a soloist, this season has seen performances with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Aalborg Symfoniorkester. He also appears at major festivals, including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Seattle Chamber Music Society, and Music@Menlo.
In recent seasons, he has performed with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, and HR-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, plus toured with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Hoopes performs on the 1991 Samuel Zygmuntowicz, ex Isaac Stern violin as well as a 1766 G.B. Guadagnini.
