John Beyer, founder of Moving Professionals, has released a new , “” (Worth Books), chronicling his personal and professional journey from a troubled childhood to entrepreneurial success.
Beyer, who launched the Woodbury-based moving and storage company in 1985, shares his experience growing up in Queens as the son of addicts, and his eventual recovery from addiction and alcoholism. With the support of , his wife Amy, and therapy, Beyer built a thriving business and even pursued his dream of becoming a singer-songwriter.
The memoir also explores personal challenges, including the diagnosis of his son Gregory with autism. In response, Beyer and his wife became active advocates for , helping to establish community programs and support networks. Beyer later served as chairman of the Long Island chapter of Autism Speaks and was a founding board member of both the and the David Center.

Co-written with , Live a Little Better was inspired by encouragement from Beyer’s wife and daughter, who urged him to share his story.
