This week, photographers captured the energy and creativity across campus and Nashville, Tennessee, from live performances by Mumford & Sons, Josiah Queen and King Princess to College GameDay and Vanderbilt Football’s win over Missouri. Photographers also snapped moments from the Undergraduate Research Fair and Makeathon, showcasing a spirit of curiosity and collaboration.
Folk-rock band Mumford & Sons brought its signature cozy, banjo-infused indie-rock sound to the stage at Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 22. The band filled the area with warm acoustic energy and sing-along moments. From nostalgic fan favorites to music from their newest album, “Rushmere,” the performance brought heartfelt emotion and communal spirit to the audience.
King Princess rocked Marathon Music Works on Oct. 25. The venue pulsed with a bold indie-pop swagger and bursts of rock-tinged emotion. King Princess wove through shimmering synths and gutsy guitar melodies that turned the room into a celebratory space. The performance felt personal yet charged, leaving the crowd seemingly buzzing with electric connection.
Christian rock artist Josiah Queen took the stage at Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 27. Queen delivered a heartfelt blend of contemporary worship with his songs weaving through the hall with inviting warmth. He also had smooth comedic timing, lighting up the crowd with laughter between beautiful vocals. The exciting atmosphere, thoughtful crowd and talented sets made for an unforgettable performance.
ESPN’s College GameDay came to Vanderbilt’s campus on Saturday, Oct. 25, as thousands of fans and students crowded around the set on Wyatt Lawn. This marked GameDay’s first appearance at Vanderbilt since 2008. The show lasted over three hours, from 8 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. CDT with comedian Nate Bargatze as the guest picker and special performances by Grammy-nominated country artists Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley.
Then-No. 10 Vanderbilt took down then-No. 15 Missouri, 17-10, at FirstBank Stadium on Oct. 25. With College GameDay on Vanderbilt’s campus in the morning, there was substantial excitement for this top-15 showdown. While both teams had strong defenses throughout the game, the Commodores had a last-minute touchdown to seal their win. Vanderbilt Football’s ranking upped to No. 9 following the win.
