For Giving Tuesday, The Drake seeks donations to support music in Amherst, beyond – MassLive.com

AMHERST — This Giving Tuesday, the Downtown Amherst Foundation — the nonprofit group that runs The Drake entertainment venue — is calling on supporters in the community.
“Nearly four years ago, we opened our doors with a simple vision: to create a place where music, culture and community come together,“ staff wrote in an email announcing the donor drive. ”Since then, The Drake has become a vibrant home for live performance — a stage where local talent and internationally renowned artists share the spotlight, and audiences of all ages gather to experience the power of live music in all its forms.”
In the past four years, The Drake has hosted hundreds of different acts, from rising local artists to Grammy winners, and has partnered with local organizations like the University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center and Amherst College, as well as Amherst Middle and High schools.
Coming up this month, The Drake will host six-piece funk-reggae band Tropidelic on Thursday, the classical Crystalline Chamber Collective on Sunday, a Taylor Swift dance party on Dec. 13, and jazz artist Karrin Allyson on Dec. 17, just to name a few.
Contributions to the donor drive will help The Drake continue to bring diverse and world-class artists to Amherst, all while keeping ticket prices affordable. Donations also will help support local musicians with a safe performance space and expand The Drake’s educational partnerships with local schools.
Donations also come with perks. Donations of between $250 and $499 will receive two complimentary show tickets; $500 to $999 will receive four complimentary show tickets and four complimentary drinks; $1,000 to $2,499 will receive four tickets, four complimentary drinks, and a behind-the-scenes tour of The Drake; $2,500 to $4,999 will receive six tickets, six complimentary drinks, and a behind-the-scenes tour of The Drake; and donations of $5,000 and above will receive six tickets, six complimentary drinks, a behind-the-scenes-tour, and recognition as a sustaining member of The Drake.
Donations to support The Drake’s concerts and programming can be made online.
