Despite a late push by UW-Stout, UW-La Crosse finished strong as they notched another conference victory 86-78 on Wednesday night.
The Eagles got out to a fast start leading 12-3 just a few minutes into the game but the Blue Devils withstood the early sprint by the home side and would make it a close game in the late stages.
Tomah graduate, Dustin Derousseau had a fantastic all-around performance with 34 points, five assists and four rebounds.
Sam Grieger was instrumental in the win as well contributing 23 points and four assists. JJ Paider was the other Eagle player in double figures with 12 points and eight rebounds.
The 19th ranked, UW-La Crosse team moves into a tie in the conference standings with UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater with their victory.
The Eagles move to 17-5 overall and 7-4 in WIAC play and will travel to face the 18th-ranked Pointers on Saturday at 5:00.
